CONNECT FESTIVAL 2024 – Simplicity

Day 1 begins with REAKTION! And this ensemble is Connect Festivals own in-house ensemble. It is specifically put together with a new constellation for each year’s festival and is comprised by students from Malmö Academy of Music.
Day 2 is the IAC concert with Elide Sulsenti. She is an Italian cellist based in Switzerland. Active in the field of contemporary music, she recently received the Fritz Gerber Award 2023. Over the years, she has performed numerous premières and worked with composers of various nationalities. Her upcoming concert at Inter Arts Center will be performed solo in interaction with electronic effects and all the pieces are newly composed by the composer students of the Malmö Academy of Music.
Day 3 ends with Messiaen Quartet Copenhagen that was founded in 2018 and is an important new force in Music Scandinavia. The Messiaen Quartet is constantly challenging and developing its’ musicality by commissioning many new works from leading composers, and as a result their concerts and premieres are regularly transmitted live on the radio. The quartet’s instrumentation, violin, cello, piano and clarinet, is crafted around the masterpiece “Quartour pour la fin du temps” and gives a range of unique possibilities. With its innovative programming, the ensemble challenges genre differences as well as human barriers.
