An international artist group group consisting of Ioana Cojocariu, Radomir Majewski, Neil Luck and Monika Czyżyk has been commissioned by Malmö Museum to create a new digital and immersive artistic interpretation on migration for the visualisation arena Wisdome Malmö. As part of the development process, the group will spend time at IAC, where they will share their working process with other artists and IAC staff.

The project idea, titled Transmigration: Rooting Through Bodies and Borders, is the result of an open call by Malmö Museums to explore visual narratives where art, technology and science meet. Through the work, the artist group aims to raise questions about migration as more than just physical movement: as a passage between bodies, places, times and states of being.

The artistic work, produced by Malmö Museums in collaboration with Malmö Konstmuseum, will become a hub at Malmö Museums for conversations about migration, with the ambition to highlight perspectives that move, challenge and invite collective reflection.

About the concept

The artistic interpretation forms part of Malmö Museums’ ongoing efforts to illuminate the significance of migration from multiple perspectives. In Wisdome Malmö’s dome-shaped theatre, visitors will experience an audiovisual piece that intertwines documentary material, poetry and subtle interactivity.
The work takes Malmö as its point of departure and links human movement to the rhythms of nature and ecological cycles. Through collaborations with local actors, researchers and civil society, the artist group seeks to create a platform for dialogue on migration, identity and belonging.

About the commission

The artistic interpretation at Wisdome Malmö is being developed during 2025–2026, following a preliminary study carried out in 2023 within the framework of Malmö’s initiative Öppna Malmö, now Malmö Möts. The completed work will become part of Malmö Museums’ collection and will be shown in Wisdome Malmö’s dome theatre. The piece is produced by Malmö Museums in collaboration with Malmö Konstmuseum. The aim is to create a space for dialogue and reflection on migration, particularly aimed at upper‑secondary school students.

The inauguration of the work is planned for June 2026.
