Inter Arts Center (IAC) is a platform for artistic research and experimentation. We support and collaborate with artistic researchers and the institutions behind them. IAC is part of the Faculty of Fine and Performing Arts, and our closest partners are therefore: Malmö Art Academy, Malmö Academy of Music and Malmö Theatre Academy. Our aim is to present and engage in the outcome and the formats of artistic research – as a practice-based scientific discipline – but also to include and investigate connections to the extensive research-based art that exist outside academic contexts. We also encourage interdisciplinary projects and collaborations.
While IAC collaborates with all three academies in Malmö on all research and all levels of education our main objective is to encourage all artistic researchers to use the facilities at IAC as a unique possibility to display some of the outputs from their research and praxis, or merely function as a place to work and meet other artists and researchers. Artistic research was established at Faculty of Fine and Performing Arts in 2000, and is today a young, and yet established discipline in Sweden and several other countries, like Norway, Finland, Austria and United Kingdom. IAC has a strong, primarily national, network of artistic researchers, and this we aim to cultivate and expand, through a wider international perspective. We welcome all artists and researchers to contact us with applications or other inquiries concerning possible collaborations.
