ShareMusic Residency (not public)
ShareMusicTechLab @Inter Arts Center
15 October 2018 - 18 October 2018

ShareMusic’s work contributes to the digital development that allows more inclusive ensembles and people to actively participate in artistic processes as co-creators. The residency offers the ideal space and environment to further work towards the long-term goal to establish more people with different abilities becoming artists, being able to compose and/or perform music.

The residency comprises different workshops, where students from the Malmö Academy of Music, studying composition and arranging, work together with ShareMusic’s Elefantöra ensemble and musicians from Gageego! – ensemble for contemporary music. A range of interfaces will be explored and used, including the iOS app Gestrument developed by composer Jesper Nordin. Working with digital technology and traditional instruments, the goal is to generate ideas with which the students will continue working, writing and composing new pieces for the ensembles. The workshops are led by artists from ShareMusic’s network.

On the 18th of October 2018 experiences from the residency will be shared during a seminar for students from Malmö Academy of Music as well as insights from ShareMusic’s previous work with music technology. The results of the residency will be a live performance at the festival Lund Contemporary on the 8th of February 2019.

ShareMusic & Performing Arts has a long-standing experience on using technology to explore new artistic expressions. Using and exploring new technology enables artists and musicians with different abilities to create music and to perform.

This residency is a collaboration involving Inter Arts Center, Malmö Academy of Music, Lund Contemporary.
