Carte blanche à Hanna Hartmann # Acousmatic music performed on 24 loudspeakers
Having developed her very own language, the Swedish sound artist and composer Hanna Hartman creates compositions that are exclusively made up from authentic sounds which she has recorded around the world. Sounds are taken out of their original context and thus perceived in their purity. Hanna Hartman seeks to reveal hidden correspondences between the most diverse auditive impressions and in new constellations she creates extraordinary worlds of sound.

The main idea with SOUND SPACES is to colonize locations specifically chosen for a certain sound experience, creating an intimate relationship between the music and the space surrounding it. The architectural properties of the specific place will be illuminated through the aural force occupying it. The physical and the sonic space will enter in a dialogue where eventually both will be mutually expanded and/or manipulated.
For the opening as well as the finale of the festival there will be a trumpet quartet giving an open-air concert with music especially written for the occasion in two iconic places of Malmö (Malmö Konsthall and Möllevångstorget).
During the festival you will experience acousmatic music performed by Hanna Hartman, Caroline Profanter, Kent Olofsson, Alessandro Perini, an electric guitar concert with Carlo Siega in the church of St Pauli, a concert in a local art gallery (Galleri 21) with music for flute and electronics, harmonica, as well as experimental performances and ice blocks.
The festival SOUND SPACES takes place for the first time in Malmö and is arranged by Ars Nova / Hertzbreakerz. The full festival runs from May 18th to June 10th, 2018.
