Don't take a waterbottle for granted | Lisa Mårtensson
19 January to 3 February 2026
In "Don’t Take a Water Bottle for Granted", the artist Lisa Mårtensson collaborates with everyday objects as performers, aiming to shift agency from her own body to theirs and back again. Through gestures of intimacy and failure the work unfolds as a more-than-human encounter. Relations become fluid and animistic as plastic, wood and flesh negotiate who leads and who follows.
During her master's studies in Contemporary Performative Arts at HSM in Gothenburg, Lisa has developed a performance practice that aims to expand the field of agency from the human/performer to non-human beings such as everyday objects/props. Lisa works in a tradition going from John Cage, through Fluxus artists such as George Brecht and La Monte Young and going on to postmodern choreography. It is a score based and score creating practice where she listens to and collaborates with these everyday objects. The practice has an ecological approach and its theoretical main foundation is Object Oriented Ontology (Graham Harman and Timothy Morton).
The work will be presented at Skogen in Gothenburg on February 20 at 14:00 and 19:00.
