‘Responding Arches’ is an evolving sound installation rooted in research into the interplay between sound and physical structures. Drawing inspiration from architectural arches, Anja Cecilie Petersen has explored the acoustic nuances of spaces such as tunnels and Gothic churches, translating them into ceramic forms reminiscent of bells.

During the Make Sound Residency, she worked on an installation that percussionists can play, as well as a soundscape based on recordings of the ceramics. ‘Responding Arches’ brings together different spaces in the same place. Several architectural sites that are incompatible with each other are fused, and through sound they begin to intertwine.
