At IAC Clara Mosconi will work on the production of the sound installation "Mellem tunger", which will be shown at Moderna Museet in Malmö in June and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Roskilde in September. In addition, two performances with soprano Felicita Brusoni will be presented in extension of the work.

The project stems from Clara's dual origin as Italian and Danish, and examines linguistic encounters and hierarchies across generations. Through a conversation between her father and she in Italian – his native language and her learned second language – the dynamics of communication without a common native language are explored, and how linguistic differences create both misunderstandings and space for cohesion.

The installation will consist of five round screens in sandblasted plexiglass in varying size. Strange, yet familiar symbols, words and video sequences will appear on the screens, accompanied by extracts from the conversation. Each screen has a speaker mounted on the back, and the projections and fragments of the conversation are activated in a staggered manner, so that the viewer's attention is drawn from one understanding of the conversation to another.

Clara Mosconi (b. 1995, DK/IT) works with voice and language, particularly within the context of multilingualism, through spatial sound installations, performances, and publications. Rooted in the gradual fading of her second language, Italian, her work with paralinguistics explores what is lost – and what can be reimagined – when words slip away. In response, she has developed practices that resist and redefine the boundaries of linguistic belonging.

Mosconi holds a MFA from Malmö Art Academy (SE, 2023) and a BFA from Bergen Art Academy (NO) and Iceland University of the Arts (IS, 2020). Her recent exhibitions and performances include Uppsala Konstmuseum (SE), Bladr (DK), Intonal Festival (SE), Den Frie (DK), Bergen Kunsthall (NO), Arden Asbæk Gallery (DK), and bb15 – Space for Contemporary Art (AT).
