This seminar, organised by the “Sound, Narrative, Technology” initiative, brings together PhD candidates and researchers working in artistic research across music and theatre. It is set up as a shared space where people can talk openly about work in progress, test ideas, and learn from each other across closely related art forms. Instead of treating music and theatre as separate fields, the seminar starts from the practices themselves. Many of the projects span sound, voice, body, time, space, and technology, and the discussions focus on how these elements are explored in artistic work.

A key aim of the seminar is to give doctoral researchers the opportunity to clearly present their current research: the questions they are grappling with, the methods they are testing, and how their artistic choices are shaping new insights.

Some projects are still taking shape, while others reflect long-term research processes. Two of the PhD candidates are also nearing their doctoral defences. The seminar also introduces the research of the newly appointed senior lecturer, situating their work within the broader research environment and opening it up for dialogue with doctoral projects and ongoing artistic practices.

By bringing early-stage work together with more advanced doctoral projects and senior research perspectives, the seminar creates a supportive learning environment built on shared experience, curiosity, and critical conversation.
