Audiovisual recording, mixing and editing of "Pietà" by L. Streich and "Flyback" by Alessandro Perini
13 to 25 January 2026
Two recording sessions took place at IAC, documenting two distinct but related projects that share a strong focus on technical systems, collaboration, and performative practice.
The first project concerned “Pietà” by Swedish composer Lisa Streich, performed by Elide Sulsenti. The redesigned system, developed by the performer herself, was conceived not merely as a technical update but as a relational reconstruction.
A new Arduino-based circuit was designed to automate the motor movements via a synchronized timeline. This resulted in a more stable, reproducible, and legible system, enabling the performer to interact more naturally with the setup, guided by a click track and able to focus more fully on interpretative aspects.
The project stands as an example of how technical care and system maintenance can be understood as integral components of the performative act.

The second project involved the recording of "Flyback", a piece for two interconnected clarinets by Alessandro Perini, performed by Robert Ek and Natalie Eriksson. The work explores a hybrid acoustic instrument in which the two clarinets are physically coupled, sharing a common air column.
The piece was written with the support of Kulturrådet in 2025 and premiered at SOUND SPACES Festival Malmö. It is based on a physically interconnecting device, fabricated through 3D printing, which links the two instruments into a shared acoustic system. This configuration alters the instruments’ response, introducing partial unpredictability and distributing control across both performers.
The resulting hybrid instrument challenges conventional notions of instrumental autonomy, as each player’s actions directly influence the sound production of the other.
