Research

Artistic Research

Artistic research was introduced as an academic discipline in the late 20th century and is today a growing research field in many places world-wide. At Lund University, artistic research was established in 2000.

As the research infrastructure at the Faculty of Fine and Performing Arts at Lund University, IAC facilitates research activities in artistic practices and cross-disciplinary explorations in the arts that involve researchers and doctoral students.

Research themes

A number of recurrent research themes has been developing at IAC during the years:

  • Immersive formats (virtual reality, augmented reality, spatial sound)
  • Contemporary dramaturgy and post dramatic theatre
  • Sound art, electronic music, and live electronics
  • Instrumental and vocal experimentation
  • Arts and science (in collaboration with other Lund University partners such as the Sound Environment Center, Humlab, and ESS)

Users

IAC is open for both internal and external researchers and artists:

  • Researchers and doctoral students affiliated to the faculty
  • Students and alumni from the faculty
  • Other researchers at Lund university
  • Visiting researchers and artists (including partner programmes such as IASPIS and Make Sound Residency)
